Labiaplasty: Suitability and Planning

What is labiaplasty? Labiaplasty changes the size or shape of the labia minora. Labial appearance varies naturally, and variation alone does not require treatment. Some patients seek assessment for persistent tugging, friction, irritation or discomfort with clothing and activity. Dr. Sean C. Smith discusses your concerns privately at an Ottawa consultation.

How is the procedure planned? The examination considers anatomy, symmetry, tissue quality and symptoms. The aim is an individualized, conservative correction that preserves function. Discuss alternatives, the proposed incision and the limitations of surgery without pressure to achieve a standardized appearance.

What are the risks and recovery questions? Ask about swelling, wound care, work, exercise and when intimacy or tampon use may safely resume. Risks include bleeding, infection, wound-healing problems, scarring, altered sensation, pain and excessive tissue removal. Follow your specific aftercare instructions rather than a general timeline.

How much does labiaplasty cost? Request an individual written quote confirming the operation, anesthesia, facility fees, taxes and follow-up. A consultation is needed to establish suitability and the proposed plan.

Who may consider intimate tissue rebalancing?

This procedure may be appropriate for individuals who:

Experience discomfort, irritation, or friction related to labial tissue

Feel limited during physical activity, intimacy, or daily movement

Have noticed changes following childbirth or over time

Are seeking functional improvement rather than cosmetic transformation

Value privacy, discretion, and thoughtful care

Labiaplasty is not intended for those seeking trend-driven outcomes that could lead to functional issues.

Our surgical approach

Each labiaplasty plan is developed as a surgical strategy rather than a standardized technique.

Careful assessment of anatomy, tissue quality, symmetry, and individual concerns guides every recommendation. Surgical techniques are selected conservatively, prioritizing comfort, healing, and preservation of natural variation. Over-resection is intentionally avoided.

The objective is balance and relief, allowing intimate anatomy to function comfortably without drawing attention to the surgery itself.

What this procedure may address

Intimate tissue rebalancing surgery may help address:

Physical discomfort or irritation related to labial tissue

Interference with physical activity or clothing

Asymmetry or disproportion causing distress

Functional concerns affecting daily comfort

Every surgical plan is individualized and based on anatomy and function rather than aesthetic trends.

About results

Results from labiaplasty are intended to be natural, comfortable, and enduring.

The goal is not a noticeable change in appearance, but an improvement in comfort and ease, allowing individuals to move through daily life without persistent awareness or discomfort.

A considered surgical experience

From consultation through recovery, care is delivered in a calm, private, and respectful environment.

Patients are supported with honest guidance, thoughtful planning, and consistent follow-up, without pressure, judgment, or obligation.

Moving forward

Choosing intimate surgery is a personal and considered decision.

A private consultation provides the time and space to explore whether labiaplasty is appropriate for you, and to discuss options carefully, confidentially, and without obligation.
